Ruukki's special steels have been bringing benefits to equipment manufacturers for years already in plate and strip form. Now Ruukki has developed both special steels for applications where either tubes or hollow sections are required. Raex wear-resistant steel enables a longer lifetime for wearing parts. Optim high-strength steel brings fuel savings through lighter vehicle structures.

Raex 400 tube is the hardest cold-formed steel tube in the world

Raex 400 tube is nearly three times harder than regular S355 standard steel. Its martensitic, homogenous microstructure throughout the tube wall guarantees a long lifetime in abrasive materials pumping applications.

Raex 400 tube has been designed for the cost-efficient transport of wet concrete and other semi-fluid liquids and wear materials. It significantly improves the performance of pumping or dredging equipment and extends its service life beyond normal standards. The steel tubes can also be used for the wearing parts of mining machinery, excavation and dredging equipment, as well as in forestry machinery and equipment.

Optim 700 Plus MH hollow sections

Use of Ruukki's extra high-strength Optim 700 Plus MH structural hollow sections enable lightweight lifting and transportation equipment without compromising on properties. Lightness brings cost savings in fuel costs and results in higher payload capacity. Optim 700 Plus MH structural hollow sections clearly exceed standard requirements and the properties of other similar steels on the market.

Optim 700 Plus MH structural hollow sections have improved cold-forming properties and impact toughness, which makes them ideal for applications such as mobile machines, materials handling equipment and cranes, where high strength combined with excellent usability is required.  Product engineering usability is excellent and the product has improved welding properties.

Ruukki is committed to continuously improving the energy efficiency of its steel production. The company ranks among the most energy-efficient in the world in iron-making and uses nearly the minimum amount of coking coal possible using current technology. Strong R&D capability enables Ruukki to develop high quality products in response to the market and various industries' needs.
