For the production of its successful bottle family, Greiner Packaging is only using the innovative raw material Tritan™ copolyester.
Kavodrink bottles come in volumes of 500, 750 and 1,000ml and to date have been produced by Greiner Packaging using two material variants: Polycarbonate or Tritan™ copolyester. From now on in this sector, Greiner Packaging in focussing exclusively on processing Tritan™ copolyester, which offers convincing benefits.
Kremsmünster, 29 August 2011 – For many years, the Austrian packaging producer Greiner Packaging has been looking for an alternative to polycarbonate. Whilst producing BPA (Bisphenol A)-free baby bottles, valuable experience was gained, as well as comprehensive know-how in terms of processing.
First choice: Tritan™ copolyester
Greiner Packaging has relied on Tritan™ copolyester from Eastman as a raw material since 2010. To date, it has been used for the production of Kavodrink bottles and 5-gallon bottles as an alternative to polycarbonate. Now, in the Kavodrink bottle sector, the switch to the exclusive use of the innovative raw material has been accomplished. “There is a significant increase in demand for BPA-free plastics from customers and market alike. With Tritan™ copolyester, we can offer an optimum solution“, Günter Ausserwöger, Head of Division Kavo at Greiner Packaging, is pleased to say.
The raw material is food-safe, retains flavour and boasts several outstanding properties. It is BPA-free and distinguishes itself through high impact resistance and glass-like clarity. In addition, Tritan™ copolyester is highly dishwasher-proof and resistant to heat and chemicals. In terms of processing, it offers a high degree of design flexibility.
Popular bottle family
The benefits of Tritan™ copolyester correspond with the material-relevant requirements of Kavodrink bottles exactly. This bottle family convinces through high quality, easy cleaning and long service life. Greiner Packaging produces the bottles in different colours. For closing, a transparent Kavocap closure made from PP is used. Due to their handling benefits, Kavodrink bottles are optimally suitable at work, during sports, games and leisure.
