Vale Canada Limited has awarded Pöyry (Montreal) Inc with the detailed engineering and construction site assistance services assignment for the nickel emissions project at Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The project involves a new baghouse with auxiliaries for the Nickel Refinery Converter (NRC) plant to treat the gases from the nickel refining conversion process. The process is presently operating with electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and top blown rotary converter (TBRC) vent systems for managing the facility's emissions. The project will allow the company to meet the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE) new reduced nickel emission standards, effective 1 July 2016 and in addition improve the workroom environment.

Pöyry's scope of work includes engineering services such as project engineering management, coordination, scheduling, purchase specifications and detailed design services as well as optional construction and commissioning assistance.

"It is an important project reference for Pöyry in North America as we launch detailed engineering services within the minerals processing sector" says Ari Asikainen, President of Pöyry's Regional Operations North America.

The value of the order is not disclosed. The order will be recognised within the Regional Operations Business Line order stock in Q4/2014.
