The agile response of RETAL Baltic Films in creating and donating a transparent, anti-fog face mask for essential workers in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic has been rewarded with a Social Impact award in the Packaging Gateway Excellence Awards.

With the RETAL Baltic Films team quickly meeting the specific requirements of Lithuanian robotics non- profit Robotikos Mokykla, general manager Viktorija Griziene and her team worked around the clock to pool expertise and adapt their existing APET film to make it thicker and therefore suitable and reliable for face shields.

Viktorija says, “We were so motivated to make it work; over just one weekend, the production team managed to modify the equipment to produce the right film, and then we could rapidly produce the film and donate it to Robotikos and other non-profit organisations. We are all delighted to win this award as it recognises the positive social impact of working together to create something that is needed in the community at a difficult time.”

The film created by RETAL Baltic Films for use in anti-fog face shields for essential workers is available for free for non-profit organisations and is now commercially available for businesses.
