Due to the global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, CWIEME Berlin has to be cancelled in 2021, but is confirmed to happen May 10-12, 2022.

London, UK, April 7, 2021 – Hyve, the organiser of the global CWIEME events, the world’s largest event series dedicated to coil winding, transformers, electric motors, generators and e-mobility, announced today that the 25th anniversary edition of CWIEME Berlin, currently scheduled for 22-24 June of this year, has to be cancelled and now the next event is confirmed on May 10-12, 2022.

The organisers have been monitoring the situation carefully and have consulted with customers, visitors, the venue, local authorities and industry bodies, and it has been decided that a full year cancellation is the best decision for all concerned. Large scale events in Germany are still prohibited by the federal and local governments and these restrictions are unlikely to be removed in time for the event to take place, with the result that cancellation is now unavoidable.  A move to a later date in the year was discussed, however this was not considered realistic for a number of reasons, particularly given recent reports of COVID-19 cases rising in several countries with the result that  travel restrictions are likely to remain in place for some months to come. This would reduce the volume and quality of exhibitors and visitors expected to promote business and enable innovations across the supply chain.

Work has already started on next year’s event to continue providing the global CWIEME community with the leading global platform to connect, learn, network and, most importantly, to do business. The 2022 show will feature exciting new initiatives – like a Global Partner Programme, an exclusive business matchmaking service ‘Meet-the-Engineer’ and new navigation features.

In the meantime, CWIEME is also expanding their digital offering with quarterly, sector-specific online events. After very successful E-Mobility Days in February, Transformer Days will happen 22-23 June 2021. More details, as well as CWIEME’s autumn and winter programme, will be published in the next few weeks on their website.

Industry reactions to the cancellation of the 2021 event:

Nick Davison, Portfolio Director CWIEME & Breakbulk, Hyve Group PLC

"As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, our 25th anniversary edition of CWIEME Berlin, currently scheduled for June 2021, will have to be cancelled and the next event will now take place on May
10-12, 2022. It has become clear in recent weeks that an event this year would not have been in the best interest of our global community. We are committed to continue to provide the leading global platform for the electric manufacturing supply chain to connect, learn, network and do business. Therefore, in addition to our expanded digital offering, work has already started on new initiatives for CWIEME Berlin 2022.”

Dr. Rolf Winter, Managing Director, Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. (ZVEI)

“We are more eager to take advantage of the trade fair offer in 2022, when the pandemic situation allows for a visitor volume similar to earlier times, to be represented again as an exhibitor at the leading international CWIEME Berlin trade fair. “

Pietro Colombotto, Sales and Marketing Manager, DEMAK Group

“DEMAK Group has been supporting the event for over 10 years and we will continue to do so in May 2022. As loyal exhibitors, we would largely prefer to come back next year with a greater international event. CWIEME Berlin has a strong reputation as truly global event… don’t turn it into a meaningless small scale and “regional” fair as others in the sector are doing.”

Nicoletta Lori, Eurogroup

“[…] I confirm our doubts with regards to the attendance of CWIEME’s 2021 edition in Berlin […] We would like to confirm in advance our participation for the CWIEME Berlin 2022 edition planned in May.”
