Gouda - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) has received orders worth more than 65 million euro for technical solutions and the implementation of energy savings in the education sector in the UK. These include the upgrade, renovation, improvement and new-build of technological solutions at various universities, colleges and private institutions. Energy, CO2 reduction and security are important considerations for the education sector. With smart and green technological solutions Imtech is able to respond to this well.

René van der Bruggen, CEO Imtech: 'Imtech is one of the strongest technological players in the UK education sector. More and more educational institutions are setting high demands in terms of energy saving, reducing CO2 emissions and improving security. Smart and green technology makes this possible. Integration of all available technical services creates total solutions which make economic sense, in spite of many budgets often being fairly tight.'

Demand for energy-efficient education buildings increases
More and more educational institutions want the best and most sustainable technical solutions in their buildings. Energy efficiency, energy savings and smart and green technology combined with electrical and mechanical (air and climate) solutions make it possible to fulfil the wishes of educational management. As technology partner, Imtech is involved in such projects as the technological expansion of Loughborough University. In addition to being an architectural tour de force, the new East Park Design Centre at this university is also an example of an energy-efficient building and includes among others high-tech energy monitoring system. At Nottingham Trent University, new student accommodation is being realised to cater for 827 students. This is also an example of an energy-efficient building and includes for instance solar panels for the hot water supply. Commissioned by Lend Lease, four new energy-efficient secondary schools are being realised in Birmingham. At the Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge Imtech is implementing an energy-efficient technological upgrade incorporating solar photovoltaic solution which convert sun light directly into electricity and CHP technology (combined heat and power technology). Imtech is also responsible for all technical solutions, including natural ventilation and energy efficient technologies, in new educational buildings at the East Basildon Academies in Basildon, the Thomas Clarkson Community College in Wisbech and the Ormiston Bushfield Academy in Peterborough.

Special project for Guide Dogs for the Blind
A special project in the public sector is the new Breeding Centre for the Guide Dogs for the Blind. This is a breeding centre for blind people at which guide dogs are produced & trained and blind handlers learn to manage their guide dogs. Such solutions as special audio technology and high-tech visual systems are being realised here.
