Based in Verona, Italy, Laser Srl has successfully operated for over twenty five years in the manufacture of machinery and systems for the confectionery and bakery products industry. Born from the multi-year and qualified experience of people who have worked in the bakery, pastry, and biscuit sector, Laser Srl is a constantly evolving company. It operates three locations in Verona province, each specialized in a different aspect of the manufacturing process, allowing them to ensure complete service from design to consultancy, sales to pre and post-sales assistance for complete industrial plants. For the production of high-performance automatic lines, the company uses only the latest technologies and materials of the highest quality.

In this interview, we had the opportunity to speak with Ing. Enrico Pevarello, C.O.O. and Project Manager at Laser Srl. He shares with us the company’s journey from its founding, its drive to offer increasingly customized and automated plants, the challenges it faces, and its goals for the future.

Could you tell us when and where was Laser srl founded?

Laser Srl was founded in 1996 in Verona, Italy by a series of people with many years of experience in the bakery field. It’s truly an Italian success story.

What were the main motivations or opportunities that led to the creation of Laser srl?

The team behind Laser srl was driven by the interest in providing complete solutions for bakery products in terms of industrial production plants. There was a need for increasingly customized and automated plants, and this was an opportunity that our founders couldn’t resist.

Where is the company headquarters currently located?

Our headquarters are in Santa Maria di Zevio, Verona. We also have two more locations in Santa Maria di Zevio and Buttapietra, Verona dedicated to specific production processes.

Could you briefly describe the business area in which Laser srl operates?

Laser Srl operates in all areas of production of bakery products at an international level. We cater to both large international groups and local players. We provide machinery and systems for confectionery and bakery products. Each line is designed and built adapting to the needs of space, costs, and production of the individual customer for a turnkey result.

What are the main products offered by Laser srl and how do they stand out on the market?

Laser stands as one of the leading companies for the production of complete lines for bakery products. We offer everything from dough to end of cooling, including post-bake processes like filling, decoration, or enrobing of baked products. We’ve recently introduced a complete series of high-production in-line automatic filling systems for the production of sandwich biscuits. This allows for the possibility of changing the type of filling.

Could you explain what the process of preparing and installing the production line looks like?

Our mechanical and automation technical office will guide you step by step through the design phase while the parts are manufactured in our workshops. Complete state-of-the-art milling machines, lathes, CNC machines, cutting and bending stations ensure full control of the production process. The assembly team will install the line at the customer’s premises, then start it and train the customer service in the field of machine operation, maintenance and technological process to receive the desired product in the shortest possible time.

Have you launched or planned to launch any new products or services lately? If yes, could you give us some details?

We have introduced a range of both horizontal and planetary mixers available in a Washdown version. This offers a level of sanitation that complies with the most stringent international standards. Our dedication to innovation ensures we always stay ahead of the curve in offering solutions to our customers.

Have you recently made or are you planning to make major investments for the development or expansion of the company?

Laser Srl is oriented towards constant global growth. We recently set up a branch in India to cater to the local market. The branch is equipped with a state-of-the-art plant for the production of machinery and industrial lines for bakery products, employing over 100 people.

In which geographical markets does Laser srl currently operate?

Laser operates globally, supplying industrial plants to more than 190 countries worldwide, from America to Oceania.

Are you planning to expand your presence into new markets in the near future? If yes, what are these target markets?

We are continuously looking to expand into emerging markets, whilst also maintaining a strong focus on the European market.

How would you describe your cooperation with key partners, customers, and suppliers?

Collaboration with both suppliers and customers is integral to our operations. We believe in working together to find technical solutions that are cutting-edge, innovative, and cost-effective, thereby increasing plant efficiency.

Is there a company, customer or supplier that you consider particularly important to your success?

SEW EURODRIVE has been an invaluable supplier for us, providing continuous support for all motion-related needs. All our customers also play an important role in our growth.

What are the main challenges the company is currently facing and how do you plan to overcome them?

One major challenge is the continuous increase in costs relating to energy and raw materials. Both we and our customers and suppliers are affected by this. We are working as a team to find more efficient solutions for the entire production chain.

How did you react to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and what were the main lessons learned?

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we have emerged stronger. By 2023, we reached a milestone of over 700 production lines installed worldwide, increasing our turnover by 20% compared to the pre-covid period.

Finally, can you give us an idea of what your goals and plans are for the future of Laser srl?

Our aim is to become the go-to manufacturer for bakery product lines, offering increasingly competitive and connected solutions. We plan to increase our installed base and the variety of machinery produced internally, in order to meet customer requests in the most punctual way possible. We are driven by a commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, always striving to take our production to the next level.
