Reliable, high-performance valves play a significant role in producing renewable energy from geothermal resources.

Metso has received a large order for flow control technology from Zorlu Energy Companies Group in Turkey. The company is building a new 45 MW geothermal power plant in Manisa-Alasehir, located about 560 km southwest of Ankara. Metso's reliable valve solutions featuring high control performance and control accuracy will play a significant role in extracting geothermal energy from the heat of the Earth.

Zorlu Energy Companies Group owns a license to operate the Manisa-Alasehir geothermal area with wide untapped resources until 2040. The first geothermal power plant in the region now under construction is scheduled to go into commercial operation in October 2015 and produce electricity for the national grid.

Metso's delivery scope to the plant includes control and on-off valves, consisting of almost 100 butterfly, globe, segment and ball valves ranging from 1'' to 54'' in size from the Neles, Neles Globe and Jamesbury product portfolios. The delivery also includes site services and spares.

The order is included in the fourth quarter 2014 orders received by Metso. The value of the order will not be disclosed.
