Ruukki has signed contracts with Nimag Projekt Ab and Peab for the design, manufacture and installation of steel frames and load-bearing roof structures for the Bauhaus store near Stockholm and for Ikano's shopping centre to be built in Uddevalla, Sweden. The contracts are worth a total of around EUR 6 million.

Under the contract signed with Nimag Projekt Ab, Ruukki will design and deliver the steel frame, load-bearing roof structures and façades, including installation, for the new Bauhaus store to be built in the municipality of Upplands Väsby near Stockholm.

Under the contract signed with construction firm Peab Sverige AB, Ruukki will design and deliver the steel frame and load-bearing roof structures, ready installed, for a 25,000 m2.shopping centre being built in Uddevalla for Ikano. The shopping centre will also include an Ikea store.

"These contracts strengthen, in line with our strategy, our position in retail and logistics construction in Sweden. We have numerous showcases of retail single-storey construction from the past few years, where we have been able to offer customers energy-efficient envelope and frame building solutions.  Likewise, we also have a strong foothold in logistics construction, an example of which is Sweden Post's new sorting centre completed this year at Hallsberg in Central Sweden," says Sami Eronen, SVP, Building Projects at Ruukki Construction.

The structures for the Uddevalla project will be manufactured at Ruukki's plant in Gargzdai in Lithuania and those for the Upplands Väsby project will be manufactured jointly by Ruukki's plants in Gargzdai, Lithuania and Seinäjoki, Finland. Deliveries and installation for the Ikano building will be made by the end of this year and for the Bauhaus store by the end of June 2013.
